Blooming Creative Career Specialist | Blossoming Cultural Experience Curator
Elena Muslar is the Assistant Director of Entertainment and Fine Arts Professions at Loyola Marymount University. In the office of Career and Professional Development, she primarily works to enrich students in the College of Communication and Fine Arts and the School of Film and Television through one-on-one career advisement, workshop implementation, information sessions, employer site visits, and industry panels.
Her passions intersect at a crossroads between cultural equity, creative balance, racial justice, and arts entrepreneurship. Led to the field of arts administration as the answer to the question of how best to utilize her dynamic skillset, she was committed to working in non-profit arts organizations as she completed her undergraduate and graduate courses of study. Elena holds a BA in Theatre (with minors in Dance, African-American Studies, and an emphasis in Education) from Loyola Marymount University and an MFA in Theatre Management (with a specialization in Producing) from CalArts.
Through a variety of engaging professional experiences, she has influenced organizational shifts and maintained working relationships with various arts organizations across California. Affiliations include Arts for LA, California Presenters, Center Theatre Group, Dance Resource Center, Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles, Get Lit-Words Ignite, Hewlett Foundation, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Music Center - Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, Skirball Cultural Center, Theatre Bay Area, Towne Street Theatre, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Her producing credits include over 25 theatre and multidisciplinary programs.
She has also been privy to national exposure through her published articles with Americans for the Arts, Howlround, and the Western Arts Alliance's Western Ways. Spurred and nurtured in the shade of Los Angeles' creative gem of Pan-Africanism, Leimert Park, Elena does continue to explore her own artistic freedom through spoken-word, musical theatre, and modeling opportunities that come her way. Ultimately, it's the art that is at the heart of every experience she supports, develops, or energizes!
Art is everywhere and she loves helping others connect the dots.
