ELENA MARIE MUSLAR (@lelemariecreates) is a bicoastal arts executive, enterprising educator, and executive coach dedicated to the collective cultural and economic progress of pre-professionals and working professionals navigating careers towards, in, around, or beyond arts, culture, and entertainment. She is the Founder and Chief Empowerment Officer of Confide Creative, a career coaching and leadership consulting practice for ambitious creative professionals and serves as the Managing Director of The Career Center at the Entertainment Community Fund, formerly known as The Actors’ Fund. Elena’s personal-meets-professional coaching philosophy is rooted in three pillars: workforce equity, racial justice, and radical self-care. Her organizational clients include nationally-recognized arts organizations, major entertainment companies, higher education institutions, culturally-intentional community collectives.
Previously, Elena held leadership roles at Fractured Atlas, a national arts service organization providing fiscal sponsorship for artists, and Loyola Marymount University, where she was the go-to career coach for thousands of undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Film and Television and College of Communication and Fine Arts. During her time at LMU, she launched and taught the first ever cross-departmental course providing an Introduction to Business in the Arts. Elena has also guest lectured at USC, NYU, UCLA, CSULB, East LA College, University of Wyoming, and more. In 2019, the County of Los Angeles honored Elena, a native of South Central Los Angeles for her leadership in the arts & creative economy, commitment to cultural equity & inclusion, and dedication to community affairs & civic pride.
With an extensive background in arts presenting, cultural events producing, and building professional development experiences for artists, Elena is a sought-after speaker, occasional commercial model, enthusiastic poetic wordsmith, and member of the Audio Publishers Association developing her next creative chapter as an Audiobook Narrator. In her spare time, she also enjoys singing in community choirs, sipping tea, and playing tennis or chess with anyone willing to join her! Elena is a UC Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute graduate, UCLArts & Healing certified Social Emotional Arts Facilitator, earned her MFA in Theatre Management & Creative Producing from CalArts, and BA in Theatre Arts (with concentrations in Dance, African-American Studies, and Education) from LMU.
